Please, God, let this year be the first year
Every child can live without fear,
Anger fades and leaves no trace,
Compassion grows to take its place.
Each religion, as was first meant
Fosters love and kind intent;
And, though I know my God’s the best
It’s true that so do all the rest.
Truth is, we’re all much the same,
Help us see beyond Your name.
Hard work, kind hearts, are all we need.
Offset the damage done by greed.
Please, through deeds and our devotion,
Expand rain forests, cleanse the ocean.
Let us learn to get along
Only love can right a wrong.
Violence stops if we forgive.
Enable us, Father, to love and let live.
