This poppy I wear, not for me, nor for you
No marker for my worth, nor sign of virtue
It’s simply to say,
“I remember
Their pain
And I will
That it would
Never happen
Again.”
This humble red bloom helps me not to forget it
Their deaths weren’t for nothing,
And we must not let it
Happen again.
No more.
Cry, “No more!”
Lest we fall for the lies that lead ever to war.
Understated and beautiful.
